A quick post to share a highlight of the trip thus far to New Jersey, Delaware, and the Virginia Eastern Shore – huge flocks of shorebirds seen at Heislerville Wildlife Management Area in NJ. How many species can you see?

    Such a cool picture! Birds as far as the eye can see.
    I see three, but thinking you see more then that.

      There are actually 4 species that you can pick out – most are Semipalmated Sandpipers. The large one is a Black-bellied Plover. There are two with some reddish coloration – Short-billed Dowitchers, and the somewhat smaller Dunlins.
